New Black 7

New Black 7

TOPIC-
New Black 7

The New Black 7 is country music, that’s a fact, but these guys are breaking the rules! The music is energetic and catchy; it’s honest and true; it’s sad and melancholy. It’s everything that great country music should be but there’s more to it than that…The New Black 7 is what you would get if Steve Earle, Hank Jr., Jason Aldean and Dwight Yoakam had a bar-room brawl with AC/DC, Van Halen, Cheap Trick and The Beatles. The band owes as much to the rock realm as they do the country world. No one can reinvent the country music wheel but The New Black 7 are definitely throwin’ on some new tires along with a new paint job and a fuel injector too! This music still feels like the country music we all love but like we’ve never heard it before; powerful, energetic and real. The NB7’s music challenges us to have a good time, raise a little hell when the opportunity presents itself and to not be ashamed to let it all hang out once in a while… but the music also inspires us to cherish what’s real in life, to do what we feel is right and to be better people when the going gets tough. It’s meant to take you away from your cubicle, away from your expensive coffee shops, away from that boss that keeps telling you what to do and transport you to a happy place; a place where the beer is cold, where the sun shines and the breeze blows across the fields in the afternoon, where the nearest thing to a traffic jam is getting caught behind a tractor on a county road. The music will take to you a place where time moves just a little slower and the people are a little kinder. This is the place where Friday nights are for goin’ to high school football games and partying with old friends and Saturday afternoons are for relaxing, fishing and sippin’ cold ones on the river. The New Black 7 promotes the good things in life! These guys have loads of talent and are making great music together and it’s easy to see and hear that but they also have something intangible; something real; they have heart. A little bit of heart goes a long way today! These guys have earned their stripes by paying dues and building a grass-roots following and they are ready to take it to the next level! They know how to deliver songs with catchy melodies and hooks that you can’t help but hear in your head long after the song is over. They have a knack for hitting the points in life that we can all relate to: love, lust, loss, pain and everyday life. This music is for the people! When you hear this music coming out of the jukebox, it’ll knock you off your barstool and then help you up and buy you a shot! Give it a listen, go ahead and press that play button and let yourself go for a bit. Roll the windows down and turn the stereo up. You’ll understand what The New Black 7 is all about.

Louise Gaylord

Louise Gaylord

TOPIC-
BK: Sutton Place

Louise Gaylord is an acclaimed national award-winning author who established herself with her very first book, a suspenseful murder mystery centering on a young, sharp female assistant district attorney. This was the cornerstone of what has become her popular Allie Armington mystery series, the idea for it sparked when Louise herself spent three months on a grand jury panel. The series has grown to four novels, with stories ranging from the Southwest (“Anacacho” and “Spa Deadly”) to New York (“Xs”), to the most recent (“Dark Lake”) featuring her beloved Adirondacks. In the middle of establishing her mystery writer credentials, she expanded out of the genre with an insightful character study novel, “Julia Fairchild,” and then the delightful “Recipes from Camp Trillium.” The cookbook features worldwide recipes from Louise’s family and guests during years they visited her in New York’s Adirondack Mountains. Her first Allie Armington Mystery, “Anacacho,” won the 2003 National Benjamin Franklin Award for Best Mystery/Suspense sponsored by Publisher’s Marketing Association in Los Angeles. The San Francisco Book Festival awarded Louise with best audio book in 2010 for “Spa Deadly.” “Recipes from Camp Trillium” won the Dan Poynter’s Global eBook Awards, in which “Julia Fairchild” and “Spa Deadly” were also finalists. And most recently, “Dark Lake” was recognized in the General Fiction category of the Los Angeles Book Festival. Louise’s newest book, “Sutton Place,” will be published August 27, 2013, by Little Moose Press, Beverly Hills, California. Louise lives in Houston, Texas, though she might be found writing almost anywhere in the world.

CD Rahm

C.D. Rahm

TOPIC-
I.T. Confidential

Ready to uncover the underbelly of the corporate office, C.D. Rahm presents “I.T. Confidential” (August 29, 2013, Boondoggle Press), a humorous look at the world of information technology. He has been an I.T. professional and innovator in the field since first hearing the word “geek” and knew he wanted to be one. He worked alongside Thomas Edison in inventing electricity and Al Gore in inventing the Internet. He is believed to have come up with the name “mouse” for the device used to move the cursor around a monitor when he observed his cat chasing the one he employed across his desk during an earthquake. (The cat was very disappointed when he caught it, but ate it anyway.) C.D. Rahm is perhaps best known for his sage advice to Steve Jobs when he said, “Who would buy an electronic thingy named after a piece of fruit?” C. D. Rahm lives in anonymity inside an honest-to-goodness I.T. guy who, for reasons of sanity and job security, prefers to remain nameless.

TOPIC-
Guns Recoil

MadOgre.com is a “weblog” or “Blog” of sorts. Sometimes it’s also a little more. It’s part journal, part “Zine”, and part open letter to friends, family, and the rest of the internet. It’s a place where I throw down my opinions on what is happening around the world, and in my life. I write it mainly in a conversational tone as if we were just hanging out and talking. Excuse the vulgarity and profanity, because I’m former military and the jargon sticks with you. Of course most of my friends are former military as well and couldn’t give a rat’s ass about colorful vocabularies. Mad Ogre’s areas of interest are in Firearms, Automotives, Technology, Politics, and anything else that bleeps on my interest radar at the time. I’ll talk about the headlines. I’ll talk about what I catch on the news. I’ll talk about what I read on the web. I’ll talk about what I’ve been up to. I have opinions about everything and I’m not afraid to state them. I’ve never heard of anything too dangerous to talk about… so I’ll talk about anything if I feel like it. This Zine is published and updated as I feel like it. Sometimes, I’ll even update it a few times a day. All depends on what I have going on. This site started out in 1998 as a personal home page hosted by HOTBOT, a part of Wired Magazine’s online presence. This makes MadOgre.com one of the oldest “Blogs” on the internet. The site has grown and evolved in a manner of my liking and choosing. Again, I’m not doing this for you, but for me. If I was doing a Pay For Content site, then it would be different. Old links die and I don’t keep them up to date. I make no guarantees, so you are getting what you pay for.

PJ Media

PJ Media

Once upon a time – 2005 to be specific – Academy Award Nominee Roger L. Simon got together with Charles Johnson (the blogger behind Little Green Footballs) and Glenn Reynolds (the blogger behind Instapundit) to create a new blog that would shed light on issues important to Americans through insightful reporting, commentary and analysis. The mainstream media tried to dismiss them as disgruntled people blogging in their pajamas. They rejected the evaluation but adopted the name, and PJ Media was born. What began as an online blog site in 2005 has grown into the must-read website you are visiting today. Renamed PJMedia in 2011, this is the place where you will find news delivered in its most insightful form. Read the exceptional reporting of our influential bloggers including Victor Davis Hanson, Michael Ledeen, Claudia Rosett, “Spengler” David Goldman and many more. And check out our lineup of PJ Columnists including Zombie, Barry Rubin, Roger L. Simon and Stephen Green where their take on a story is often comical but always right to the heart of the matter. Don’t miss the PJ Tatler for breaking news and gossip from inside the beltway. And consult PJ Lifestyle for the latest on TV, music, movies, fashion, technology and food. At last count, 1.4 million unique visitors come to www.PJMedia.com each month and consume 20 million page views of our content. And those big numbers keep getting bigger. We want to count you in that number too. So, enjoy today’s visit, and come back often. There’s one more big idea we want to share with you. Beyond covering and commenting on the news, PJ Media is on a mission. We call it voices from a free America. Our voices work to … • keep speech free in our society and media, • ensure free thinking in our schools and media, • encourage a free and prosperous economy, • rid our children of massive government debt and an overreaching government, • and defend, protect and preserve what made, and will continue to make, America great. Add your voice to ours.
