Matt Anderson, author of Running Mate

Matt Anderson, author of Running Mate (political fiction)

TOPIC-

Matt Anderson, author of Running Mate (political fiction) Following the story of presidential hopeful Governor Maurice Franklin, Running Mate features a modern-day return to the original founding of our nation. After inviting his opponent, Senator Kathleen Dorsey, to serve as his running mate, Governor Franklin hurls the presidential campaign into a frenzy. After initially dismissing the offer, Senator Dorsey reconsiders and later accepts, sparking an unprecedented national dialogue and a campaign unlike any America has seen. As tempers flare and political views clash, the candidates find themselves in a fight for both their political lives and for the revolutionary words penned in Philadelphia more than two centuries earlier. Matthew M. Anderson envisioned the story in Running Mate, his debut novel, during the 2008 presidential election. A former history teacher and lifelong student of American history, Anderson reflected on his experience as a pastor and marriage counselor, and the visions for a bipartisan presidential partnership established by the founding fathers, as a way to change the face of today’s political climate. He received his BA in Social Studies and History Education from Concordia College and Masters in Divinty from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. Anderson is the son of Minnesota House Representative Paul Anderson and is the proud husband of Lacee and father of three children. Connect with Anderson at facebook.com/runningmatebook or @runningmatebook on Twitter. For more information, please visit www.runningmatebook.com.

G Tom Mac

G Tom Mac
In writing, singing & creating the masterpiece "Cry Little Sister" as the theme song to the now classic film "THE LOST BOYS," GERARD McMANN hit a deep & provocative nerve in his artistic career of creativity in doing so. Only thing was, when the film released in 1987, he was fed up with the music scene's "business" and stopped touring. He then changed his name to G TOM MAC as a result of no one ever pronouncing his real name correctly.  G TOM MAC went on to write songs for legendary singers such as Robert Plant of Led Zepplin and Roger Daltrey of The Who.

TOPIC-Discovering Our Nation's Haunted Past Guest: Kimberly P. Rebman – Author of “Haunted Florida: A Guide to the Departed Soul” and Paranormal Investigator When it comes to researching hauntings, especially those that take place in Florida, Kimberly Rebman is an expert. After all, Rebman has been actively investigating the paranormal for over twenty years now, and is the author of Haunted Florida: A Guide to the Departed Soul, Volume One. Rebman’s book, published in 2008, is dedicated to the many haunted destinations throughout the state of Florida. From the panhandle all the way down to the Keys, Rebman covers it all. The investigator’s simplistic style sets her apart from her colleagues; with just a notepad, pen, and camera in hand, Rebman braves some of Florida’s most haunted landmarks. Haunted Florida: A Guide to the Departed Soul, Volume One is not only entertaining, but educational, especially for novice ghost hunters and those who are unfamiliar with Florida’s rich history and ghost lore. Rebman plans to add a second volume to compliment the first book, and will continue to embark on many adventurous and frightening journeys throughout Florida in the next year to come.

Rebman was born and raised in Hollywood, FL. She became interested in the paranormal when she was only four-years-old and had her first ghostly encounter when she was a teenager. Rebman has since been researching and investigating the paranormal; it has become one of her most serious passions. Rebman received a B.A. degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University in Davie, FL in 1999. She worked for six years as an Early Intervention Specialist, helping families with children who have both physical and mental challenges, but then discovered her love for journalism in 2007. Rebman then began writing and editing for two online magazines, in addition to becoming a published author in 2008. Today, Rebman resides in St. Petersburg, FL with her two children, Chauncey and Anabella. She continues to investigate and research ghost lore, and has been featured on numerous radio shows, blogs, documentaries, magazines and newspapers.

Project Mars

Project Mars

TOPIC-

“Don’t Hold Back, wears the band’s trademark heart on its sleeve.” – Ottawa Xpress “Polished, powerful, beautifully crafted hard rock the way it was meant to be played. The guitar work on this EP is outstanding and the first track in particular, “Push’N” is Canadian hard rock at its finest. We also have some great sounds coming out of the group’s song “Break Down (The Walls)”, which I highly recommend for anyone who is looking for some motivation in their day. Listen to this before you head out to work and you’ll believe you can accomplish anything!” – WeLoveMetal.com “To compare them to more well known bands, they have a Theory of a Deadman/Shinedown/Alice in Chains sound to them. Definitely worth checking out!” – InkedAngels.net “Don’t Hold Back is the first release from Project Mars and these guys are ready to take their place on the scene, they cleraly demonstrate it with this powerful beast…original material with interesting songs that should be played again and again. ” – WTFMetalMusic.com “The vocals of Ron Henry highlight a band that puts heart in their music. They are going an extra step when it’s just as easy to bow down and sing about cocaine. I appreciate their passion and most importantly I appreciate their sound!” – WeLoveMetal.com “One of the perks of this job is being able to listen to the newcomers to the rock genre, and to see how a potential game-changing force got its start. That’s how we felt when we received the band Project Mars first EP, titled ‘Don’t Hold Back.’ Featuring a steady hard rock feel that takes modern rock up three notches, the six-track album is a testament to the emerging talent that is making its way to the rock and roll world…Project Mars has, in a sense, projected the kind of music that can kick your ass out of bed in the morning and drive you to achieve your goals. With such songs as ‘Push’N,’ ‘Hey!,’ and ‘Break Down (The Walls),’ this album is unique in every sense of the word. ” – Rock On Request Magazine “Project Mars sound really good as a modern hard rock band. They effortlessly blend their heavier rock with melody and clever hooks as on Push’N, Right to Know, and Hey!.” – DangerDog.com

CP KELLEY – COUNTRY MUSIC ARTIST

Gary Murphy of AmaWaterways

TOPIC-

Colin Patrick Kelley, better known as CP Kelley, was born in Texarkana, AR in 1967. Ever since he could remember, Kelley played an instrument. Kelley found out early in life that he held a gift most musicians would love to have. That gift is the ability to listen to a song and play it by ear on the instrument they’re playing. For the most part, Kelley is a self taught musician and singer. He’s never been to any formal vocal coach for training and he taught himself how to play the piano. Throughout school and his adult life Kelley’s played the Piano, Alto Sax, Oboe, Xylophone, Chimes and the Electric Keyboard. In high school Kelley was an electric keyboard player in Four States Honor Jazz Band. Music runs through his veins; it’s what allows him to express himself to the world and entertain the people around him. Since he loves entertaining and music he decided in 2011 to combine the two talents together and tackle the professional music industry as a recording artist. He has many singers and songwriters that have inspired him and his music that span a variety of genres from Frank Sinatra to Garth Brooks. However country music is his genre of choice as it allows him to exploit his vocal range that is not only appealing for the listeners but entertaining. Country music is the spirit of America, it’s full of deep emotions and stories of the lives of true blooded Americans; and that is what Kelley is.

He learned how to leave the past behind, accept his current life and forgive himself and everyone else. His book is based on his personal journey to the inner Self, a place of all-knowing. Check your festival schedules: this 100% improvised dubstep/breakbeat/house/drum & bass/trip-hop duo is the premier late-night party in the country. Throbbing bass and thudding beats are the signatures of this project from drummers Michael Travis and Jason Hann. Born out of their shared love of electronic dance music, EOTO’s M.O. is to take the free- wheeling party vibe of a DJ set to the next level by using organic instruments, innovative performance technology, and uncharted musical exploration. Live drums, guitars, and keys, and vocals are mixed, remixed, and sampled on the fly using cutting-edge programs. This is all done without a script, and

RACES

TOPIC-RACES Announce US Tour With Generationals || Debut LP 'Year Of The Witch' Out Now On Frenchkiss Records

RACES exists as a result of artistic rebirth and personal rediscovery, but it all starts at a point in Wade Ryff’s life where motivation was at its most scarce. Disillusioned with music, beset with the bitter ending of a relationship with a real life witch and faced with the overwhelming stagnation of being a 23-year old in the sleepy suburban outpost of Van Nuys, during that time, Ryff wrote the pleading lyrics of “Big Broom” in the bathroom of his parents house. He explains the song’s message as “accepting that every ending is a new beginning, and even if we may have no control over when things are given or taken from us, we can always choose how to respond.” Whether he realized it or not at the time, it would serve as a mission statement for a handful of musicians in the area who were also idling through their 20’s and desperate for a new beginning. Breanna Wood, Garth Herberg, Lucas Ventura, Devon Lee and Oliver Hild knew each other prior to RACES’ first show, played in bands together, and oh yeah, either had dated or were currently dating each other. Still, nothing could anticipate it all coming together for Year Of The Witch, a life-affirming document forged from the pain of a time when life feels most uncertain and coming out of it renewed. In regards to their evocative band name, Ryff explains: “I relate to the name in the sense that it seems like there is always something to be up against, and strong desire to overcome whatever it is.” Ryff had been quietly working on solo material, and in 2009, a friend asked him to open for a show he was booking. And he was up against the daunting task of stepping out of the sidelines as a bass player and putting his own untrained vocals to the fore. More than any singer, Ryff found his inspiration as a lyricist in the works of early 20th-century authors. But his musical heroes that were well-chosen too: Leonard Cohen’s Death of a Ladies Man for its integration of Brill Building sophistication and as a template for RACES’ use of backup singers and keyboards; Television for Ryff and Herberg’s ingenious, yet subtle guitar interplay which permeates Year Of The Witch. In a mad dash, Ryff and Herberg got in touch with some of their old friends and bandmates and assembled a “dream team,” five additional musicians from around the area he admired, including Hild on bass, Herberg on guitar, Wood on keyboards, and Lee on vocals and percussion. Ventura would play drums for the second RACES show and they’d lose a backup vocalist who went to focus on her solo project (Ryff empathizes), but otherwise, RACES has remained exactly the same since that very first gig. What sunk in was the effortlessness of it all: RACES never had to hustle to book their own shows despite living in Van Nuys, a twenty minute drive from Los Angeles that often feels hours removed from it all. Above all else was a chemistry that just couldn’t be faked or brainstormed during “band business meetings.” They attribute their work ethic to their humble surroundings, spending entire days honing their material in a Chatsworth studio because, well, what else are you supposed to do in the Valley? For the most part, RACES didn’t even see themselves as a “serious band” until local boutique imprint JAXART felt their demos were simply too good for a limited release, and label interest spread rapidly. The fit with New York’s venerated Frenchkiss Records was perfect – indeed, with RACES’ ability to derive such resonant and instantly ingratiating pop out of the relatable emotional turmoil of your mid-20’s, it’s no wonder the same label that houses Passion Pit, Dodos and Antlers were such ardent supporters. At its core, there are plenty of sad songs and waltzes – “The Knife,” “Walk Through The Fire” and “All For You” all have a melodic and lyrical directness befitting their origins as Ryff’s solo work. But as Ryff admits, “I didn’t want to play music that’s just a sappy guy on an acoustic guitar,” and RACES flesh them out to swoon with dramatic grandeur and earthen rusticity behind Ryff’s plaintive words. It’s a startling show of sophistication from a band who has only been together for less than two years. The ornate orchestration and vocal arrangements on the female-led counterpoint “Don’t Be Cruel” in particular owe their origins to Herberg’s background as a composer – he’s the one who brings Ryff’s Leonard Cohen fantasies to fruition. Quoth Ryff, “he’s our Brian Jones.” But even with the speed at which RACES are going forward, they haven’t gotten complacent in the slightest – they’re already working out new material for their next album, which they hope will integrate more of the electronic textures they’ve been experimenting with and won’t be so much “about a girl,” as Ryff jokes. But their goals are still modest – maybe playing the Bowery Ballroom in New York, getting better as musicians, the sort of things deemed worthy to a band that isn’t looking to piggyback on any sort of hype cycle. But what do they hope for most of all? Ryff puts it best: “I’d rather get dropped and start back at the beginning than not have fun with these guys.” It’s a fitting mission statement for a band for whom every show feels as exciting as that very first one.
