Elizabeth Tryon

Elizabeth Tryon

TOPIC-
dEATH OF Richie Havens

Described as a "singing sensation with an angelic voice", Elizabeth Tryon combines her unique background singing alongside Metropolitan Opera singers and writing chart-topping contemporary pop songs in her electrifying debut album and solo concert. Born and raised in Westchester County, New York, Elizabeth grew up listening to pop and Broadway music and scribbling her own original pop songs. Then when she was ten years old her school music teacher told her she had the potential to become an opera singer and took her to see an opera, which sounded "very strange" to her. Eventually Elizabeth grew to love classical music, attended the prestigious Indiana University School of Music, and now sings professionally -- she has performed as the solo vocalist at the premier of the Noah's Ark Suite at the Lighthouse in NYC, as the youngest singer on the Opera Aegean tour of Athens and the Greek Islands, and as a soloist with Opera of the Hamptons and numerous other classical venues -- but her pop roots never left her. Elizabeth continued writing and singing pop songs, and her song "Fire Inside" broke the Top 10 on the FMQB AC National Radio Chart, with 2 of her other songs going to #12 on the Chart. Elizabeth's music attracted the attention of pop producers Anthony Resta (Elton John), and Scott Jacoby, who won a Grammy in 2008. She recorded her debut album From Elizabeth with them. The album features her chart-topping pop singles along with classical music produced in innovative ways. She filmed the music video for her song "Fire Inside" with state-of-the-art filmmaker Zina Brown. Elizabeth's goal is to inhabit the cutting edge of pop music while also bringing beautiful classical music to audiences. "I've spent a lot of time in both the pop and classical worlds and I value them both very much. I love to present classical music in a fun and relevant way. Pop and classical music actually aren't all that different from each other – they both have beautiful melodies." During her performances, Elizabeth calls upon her background performing professional improvisational comedy to engage her audience. "I love being suspended in the moment. I never completely know what's coming next during a show." Elizabeth's musical roots go back a long way -- to the 1890's at least. Her great-grandfather was a solo cornetist in John Philip Sousa's band and he signed a solo record deal, although "it was actually a 'cylinder deal' since records hadn't been invented at the time." She is also a distant cousin of actor / writer Tom Tryon. In addition to performing and writing music, Elizabeth writes original movie scripts, does professional voiceovers, and has worked as an actress in New York City.

defytolerance

defytolerance

About Us Freddy Kilo - Lead vocals, guitars Brian Miller - Guitars, vocals Donny Rosko - Bass, vocals Garin Wolfe - Drums, percussion It's not often you find a band that ties aggression and melody in the same fashion as Defy Tolerance do. Raised on a healthy diet of Alter Bridge, Godsmack, Dream Theater and Sevendust the Phoenix based quartet has that "it factor" that you don't seem to find much these days. From their dynamic and lethal live show through to the band's hard hitting debut album, Stop The Bleeding, Defy Tolerance is well on their way to making a name for themselves. Formed in 2011 when frontman Freddy Kilo met bassist Donny Rosko in, of all places, a bathroom after a gig Donny played. The two of them got together, shared some musical ideas and wrote a few songs. When they saw that they meshed well they took an ad out to find a drummer. After meeting drummer after drummer and getting nowhere, Garin Wolfe walked in the door and it was just meant to be. "Some of the guys we auditioned didn't even bother to learn the songs!" reflects Rosko. "Garin showed up prepared and just nailed it." The trio started playing shows in Feb of 2012 and during this time they recorded Stop The Bleeding. "In the studio we were writing and recording a lot of secondary guitar parts," says Donny. "We all agreed to add a 2nd guitarist and the search was on. After a few not-so-great auditions, Garin suggested Brian Miller, who worked with him at the time. The dude shreds. We thought he would be a good fit and bring something new to our stage show. We had a month of practice and he debuted when we opened for Smile Empty Soul." Produced by House of Lords and Fifth Angel drummer, Ken Mary, the ten song affair was recorded at SonicPhish Studios in Phoenix, AZ and mastered by Tony Glassner at Spectre Mastering. "I met Ken in 2011 through a co-worker who played in a band with him many years ago called 3 Degrees West," says singer Freddy Kilo. "I didn't have a band at the time, but I wanted Ken to record a few songs I had written. Later, when it came time for Defy Tolerance to record, I called Ken, we met up, went over the music and went into the studio to record. It was all pretty simple, actually." Opening with the storming "Ball and Chain," a song about being distracted and held back from real life and new opportunities,(ie trying to break free from a personal ball and chain) through to "Live For Today," which, says Freddy Kilo, "was written during the first time I was in the studio recording the first three songs of the album. My family had been out of town for three weeks and I really had time to reflect on where my life was going and what was really important to me. This song has a much deeper meaning to me than any other song I've written. Although I didn't intend for it to be a Defy Tolerance song, it seems that fate had other plans for it." Adam Petry, a very good friend of Freddy's, co-wrote "Empty Bottle." The lyrics explain the passing of his father due to a freak accident involving alcohol. "This song is special to me due to the fact that I wrote the music for it back in 2003," recalls Kilo. "I always knew that song (music) had potential, I just never thought it would have turned out as powerfully as it did. The funny thing is, when I first wrote the music, I intended for the verse to be the chorus, and vice versa." Then, "Until I'm Done" was written on the road from Phoenix to Telluride, Colorado. I would be lying if I said it doesn't have anything to do with snowboarding and shots of liquid cocaine, although shots of Patron would be more accurate," recounts the singer. "This song describes the "once in a lifetime" moment I had, where I was the slum dog brought into royalty for a few days, then thrown back into reality with only an unbelievable story to tell. Google search "Castlewood Telluride" to understand what I mean." There's much more to Defy Tolerance than meets the eye. They're just beginning to scratch the surface - wait until they find the depth that lies underneath.SITE: Site

Christine Hardy

I wasn't always a trainer. In fact, in my former life, I was an attorney. I earned my Juris Doctorate in January 1997 and passed the bar exam a month later. I practiced law for 5 years until I decided that the profession was simply not for me. As an attorney, I constantly felt an internal pull to keep searching for my place in life. I knew that I had much more to give and had to find the right avenue. That is when I put down my brief case and became a personal trainer through the International Sports Science Association (ISSA) and really haven't looked back since. I've been a bodybuilder for the past 14 years. I lifted my very first weight in 1991 and through the years kept right on learning, trying and growing. For me, bodybuilding reflects all of life. If you want to see results in the gym, then you must be: dedicated, consistent, willing to train hard and committed to eating clean. That is the formula for success and it isn't easy! The same applies to life in general. To succeed, you must dedicate yourself to excellence and consistently work hard to achieve your desires. For me, bodybuilding sets the stage; it strengthens the body, clears the mind, and fortifies the spirit. Bodybuilding and helping others are my two absolute passions in life. I feel very fortunate that I took the opportunity in this life to live my passion. Every day, I teach others how to live balanced, healthy, lives free of disease. My personal vision is see a world filled with healthy people who love and respect themselves. I am more than willing to do my part to help make that happen. Elinor Stutz

Elinor Stutz

Elinor Stutz Founder of SmoothSale A vision came to me while at Stanford Hospital lying on a stretcher with a broken neck. I had one of those near-death experiences you read about but never happens to you. My life flashed in front of me in the form of a report card. On the left hand side, I had very high marks, but the right hand side was startling – it was blank and entitled Community Service! I instantly recognized a need to begin giving back to communities at large. I vowed that if I were able to walk out of the hospital, I would begin doing just that. It was on that stretcher while waiting to be admitted, that I wrote my first business plan – to help others near and far understand how to take their natural talents and convert those into sales and grow business. Elinor Stutz is the CEO of Smooth Sale, an Inspirational Speaker, Author and Trainer. Elinor 's International Best-Selling book, “Nice Girls DO Get the Sale: Relationship Building That Gets Results” published by Sourcebooks was featured in TIME Magazine, translated into multiple languages and sells worldwide. Years of community service work teaching groups of job seekers how to land the job they desire led Elinor to writing her second book, “HIRED! How to Use Sales Techniques to Sell Yourself On Interviews” . Revealing all she learned through the years and on the stretcher that fateful night, comes her third book, INSPIRED Business ~ A New Vision for Building Business and Communities. The theme of the book is, Believe, Become, Empower. Audiences term Elinor's talks as both inspirational and motivational, and claim through her insights they more readily found success. You may find Elinor teaching webinars for entrepreneurs, training corporate sales teams, teaching students and job seekers how to interview best and earning standing ovations at conventions. “It is no use walking anywhere to preach, unless our walking is our preaching.”??When I think of Elinor Stutz this quote comes first and foremost to my mind. Elinor is an amazing example for me as I continue to grow and expand in my own business! Not only is she the perfect client, but also she is often one of those people that I feel that I should be paying instead of the other way around. Just reading her writing, getting the opportunity to listen to her trainings and speaking with her regularly has been such an incredible gift in my life. Many times in life, people teach one thing and practice another in their own lives. Elinor most definitely not only teaches but also walks her talk. If you are looking for someone to help guide you in your business to reach new heights and levels that you can only imagine in your mind then Elinor is my recommendation. She has all of the elements of success that I have found to be necessary in today’s unstable climate. She is Honest, She has Integrity, She is Committed 110% to herself and her own business and She clearly understands the importance of Collaboration and uplifting those that uplift others! Guns Recoil

MadOgre.com is a “weblog” or “Blog” of sorts. Sometimes it’s also a little more. It’s part journal, part “Zine”, and part open letter to friends, family, and the rest of the internet. It’s a place where I throw down my opinions on what is happening around the world, and in my life. I write it mainly in a conversational tone as if we were just hanging out and talking. Excuse the vulgarity and profanity, because I’m former military and the jargon sticks with you. Of course most of my friends are former military as well and couldn’t give a rat’s ass about colorful vocabularies. Mad Ogre’s areas of interest are in Firearms, Automotives, Technology, Politics, and anything else that bleeps on my interest radar at the time. I’ll talk about the headlines. I’ll talk about what I catch on the news. I’ll talk about what I read on the web. I’ll talk about what I’ve been up to. I have opinions about everything and I’m not afraid to state them. I’ve never heard of anything too dangerous to talk about… so I’ll talk about anything if I feel like it. This Zine is published and updated as I feel like it. Sometimes, I’ll even update it a few times a day. All depends on what I have going on. This site started out in 1998 as a personal home page hosted by HOTBOT, a part of Wired Magazine’s online presence. This makes MadOgre.com one of the oldest “Blogs” on the internet. The site has grown and evolved in a manner of my liking and choosing. Again, I’m not doing this for you, but for me. If I was doing a Pay For Content site, then it would be different. Old links die and I don’t keep them up to date. I make no guarantees, so you are getting what you pay for.

Keep up with Levi on his MetalSucks.net blog "Jumping Darkness Parade" at: http://www.metalsucks.net/category/jumping-darkness-parade/ and on his Tumblr at: http://eyallevi.tumblr.com/.
