Small Business Friday

Elinor Stutz

Elinor Stutz Founder of SmoothSale A vision came to me while at Stanford Hospital lying on a stretcher with a broken neck. I had one of those near-death experiences you read about but never happens to you. My life flashed in front of me in the form of a report card. On the left hand side, I had very high marks, but the right hand side was startling – it was blank and entitled Community Service! I instantly recognized a need to begin giving back to communities at large. I vowed that if I were able to walk out of the hospital, I would begin doing just that. It was on that stretcher while waiting to be admitted, that I wrote my first business plan – to help others near and far understand how to take their natural talents and convert those into sales and grow business. Elinor Stutz is the CEO of Smooth Sale, an Inspirational Speaker, Author and Trainer. Elinor 's International Best-Selling book, “Nice Girls DO Get the Sale: Relationship Building That Gets Results” published by Sourcebooks was featured in TIME Magazine, translated into multiple languages and sells worldwide. Years of community service work teaching groups of job seekers how to land the job they desire led Elinor to writing her second book, “HIRED! How to Use Sales Techniques to Sell Yourself On Interviews” . Revealing all she learned through the years and on the stretcher that fateful night, comes her third book, INSPIRED Business ~ A New Vision for Building Business and Communities. The theme of the book is, Believe, Become, Empower. Audiences term Elinor's talks as both inspirational and motivational, and claim through her insights they more readily found success. You may find Elinor teaching webinars for entrepreneurs, training corporate sales teams, teaching students and job seekers how to interview best and earning standing ovations at conventions. “It is no use walking anywhere to preach, unless our walking is our preaching.”??When I think of Elinor Stutz this quote comes first and foremost to my mind. Elinor is an amazing example for me as I continue to grow and expand in my own business! Not only is she the perfect client, but also she is often one of those people that I feel that I should be paying instead of the other way around. Just reading her writing, getting the opportunity to listen to her trainings and speaking with her regularly has been such an incredible gift in my life. Many times in life, people teach one thing and practice another in their own lives. Elinor most definitely not only teaches but also walks her talk. If you are looking for someone to help guide you in your business to reach new heights and levels that you can only imagine in your mind then Elinor is my recommendation. She has all of the elements of success that I have found to be necessary in today’s unstable climate. She is Honest, She has Integrity, She is Committed 110% to herself and her own business and She clearly understands the importance of Collaboration and uplifting those that uplift others! All my respect and Love, ~Malathy Drew ~

Libertarian POV Wed:Steve Rosile - Jury Rights

The Libertarian Party of Kansas (LPKS) was founded in 1971 and has had full ballot access in Kansas since 1992. Since 2009 we have been the fastest growing political party in Kansas. Our party’s commitment to Liberty makes it popular with voters who have previously identified as both ‘left’ and ‘right’. While the LPKS is an affiliate of the national Libertarian Party, we focus on state and local issues. Our party principles hold that all solutions are best when found on the most local possible level; as such we look to the national Libertarian Party only to address issues not feasibly addressed at a more local level. The Libertarian Party of Kansas (LPKS) is dedicated to the advancement of maximized individual liberties and local control, while limiting government expansion. Our goal is to elect liberty-minded individuals who are committed to advancing a free-market economy, civil liberties, local control, and personal responsibility for our actions. We need your help to return our state government to being “for the people” and to give a voice to the good, honest, and creative people of Kansas. Help us by changing your voter registration to Libertarian today & voting for Libertarian candidates who share your principles and values. Podcast of the interview Download:

Tm Franklin

T.M. Franklin

MORE Summary: Ava Michaels used to think she was special. As a child, she fantasized about having magical powers . . . making things happen. She felt different from others her age, and just knew she was meant for something important. But, like most kids, Ava grew up and eventually accepted the fact that her childish dreams were just that, and maybe a normal life wasn't so bad after all. Now a young college student, Ava begins to wonder if there were more to her childhood fantasies than she thought. She’s haunted by terrifying nightmares of a frightening man chasing her, determined to catch her, to take her—a huge hulk of a man with one blue eye and one green. Even during daylight hours, there are moments her hair stands on end with an uneasy prickle of awareness . . . and she just can’t shake the feeling that she’s being watched. Unable to decide if she’s imagining things or just plain crazy, Ava finds an unlikely ally in Caleb Foster, a brilliant and mysterious man who comes to her rescue as a Physics tutor, but in reality has another mission in mind. What he shows Ava challenges her view of the world, shaking it to its very core. The thing is, Caleb’s not quite what he seems. In fact, he's not entirely human, and he's not the only one. Together, the duo faces a threat from an ancient race bound to protect humans, but only after protecting their own secrets—secrets they fear Ava may expose. Now they’re after her, bent on her capture or maybe even her extinction. Fighting to survive, Ava has to depend on Caleb to lead her through the strange new world opening up before her. A world of magic and mystery, where she learns she’s not actually normal . . . she's not even just special. She's a little bit more.

T.M. Franklin started out her career writing non-fiction in a television newsroom. Graduating with a B.A. in communications specializing in broadcast journalism and production, she worked for nine years as a major market television news producer, and garnered two regional Emmy Awards, before she resigned to be a full-time mom and part-time freelance writer. After writing and unsuccessfully querying a novel that she now admits, “is not that great,” she decided to follow the advice of one of the agents who turned her down—write some more and get better at it. Her first published novel, MORE, was born during National Novel Writing month, a challenge to write a novel in thirty days. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Mike, is mom to two boys, Justin and Ryan, and has an enormous black dog named Rocky who’s always lying nearby while she’s writing. Whether he’s soothed by the clicking of the computer keys or just waiting for someone to rub his belly is up for debate.

Dr. Christopher Mohr

Dr. Christopher Mohr,

Afraid you'll pig out at the holiday dinner table? How to Avoid Overeating This Thanksgiving An interview with health educator Dr. Christopher Mohr, PhD RD CSSD, Sports Nutrition Advisor for Men's Fitness Magazine Does the sight of steaming mashed potatoes drenched with melted butter and homemade gravy make your heart beat faster? Does the sound of an electric carving knife buzzing through succulent roasted ham and oven browned turkey start pools of saliva forming in your mouth? Does the smell of hot apple pie and freshly baked cookies send shivers of delight racing up and down your spine? Lets face it -- most of us, even those of us with willpower of steel, are going to sit down at the dinner table this holiday season, take one look at the sea of goodies spread before us, then dive in face-first and keep eating until relatives yank our lifeless bodies off the desert platter and pronounce us clinically comatose. Aside from locking ourselves in a closet for a few weeks this winter, is there any way we can prevent ourselves from pigging-out and “blimping up” during the holidays? According to nutrition expert Dr. Christopher Mohr, the “cure” for holiday overeating is actually quite simple. “To stop the feeling of hunger, a hormone called “leptin” must be present in the part of your brain that controls your eating behavior,” Dr. Mohr says. “When leptin levels drop, you get hungry. When they go up, you feel full.” To increase leptin levels in the brain, Dr. Mohr suggests the simplest way is to eat fish or consume fish oil. “Researchers have found a fish-rich diet not only raises leptin levels, but fish consumption also makes the brain more sensitive to leptin – so the presence of just small amounts of the hormone will be enough to turn off hunger signals” he says. The essential fatty acids in fish oil provide several key benefits for those interested in controlling their weight. “Omega-3 has been found to trigger the body’s fat burning process, so it not only cuts appetite but also increases metabolism and weight loss,” says Dr. Mohr. Recent studies found that people could eat whatever they wanted and still lose weight as long as they took fish oil each day and exercised three times each week. “With fish oil, there's no reason for weight gain this holiday season,” he says. “In fact, a regimen of fish oil and mild exercise might even allow you to drop a few pounds over the holidays, even if you do ‘pig-out’ once or twice.”

ABOUT DR. CHRIS MOHR, Ph. D., RD., CSSD Dr. Mohr earned his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Nutrition from The Pennsylvania State University and University of Massachusetts, respectively. He earned his PhD in exercise physiology from the University of Pittsburgh and is a Registered Dietitian and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. Dr. Mohr is on the Advisory Board for Men's Fitness Magazine and has written over 500 articles for consumer publications, such as Men's Fitness, Weight Watchers, Men's Health, and Fitness, to name a few. He serves as media spokesperson for Nordic Naturals.

Susan Louise Peterson

Susan Louise Peterson

New Bk

Susan Louise Peterson has taken an incredible journey back to the public schools and worked in the tough inner city public schools of Las Vegas, NV for twenty years as a teacher and later a school psychologist. She taught and assessed students with at-risk situations from preschool to high school. Working in a large inner city high school of Las Vegas, Susan saw teens with a variety of issues and personal struggles. Susan also worked with parents making thousands of home visits in the inner city housing projects of Las Vegas and conducting hundreds of parent meetings to encourage parents to help their children succeed. When Susan first started teaching she had not even heard the word-autism, but that soon changed. Later, Susan worked as a school psychologist in a school diagnostic center for early childhood students with development delays and autism concerns. She has conducted over 1000 multidisciplinary team assessments for children with possible developmental delays and autism concerns beside speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school nurses, vision/hearing specialists, special education teachers, regular education teachers and parents. In that process she realized that professionals can have different perspectives and varying opinions about autism and developmental delays. As well, parents struggle with questions of autism and delays from information they receive from professionals with different training experiences. Susan has received numerous national awards for improving educational practice including being named to the Practitioners Hall of Fame by NOVA University. Susan is the author of more than 10 books in the areas of education, child behavior and research.

Ben Barrack

Ben Barrack

There’s a reason I chose the tagline, “Let’s Talk About Something Important” for my program. Just watch any network or cable news channel for one hour and you’ll see why. They all seem to revel in the inconsequential and the innocuous. Then spend an hour listening to one of my programs. Upon doing so, you’ll want a “Barrack-aid” number. A “Barrack-aid” is someone who wants to “aid” in getting the truth out by circumventing the mainstream media. Due to the power the MSM has, that has to be done by “barracking”. If you want to get a “Barrack-aid” number, all you have to do is ask via email or by calling into the show. Just remember though that the earlier you get your number, the lower it will be, and the lower your number, the higher your Barrack-aid rank. “Barrack” isn’t just my last name. It’s also a verb that means, “to urge and encourage, especially by shouting”. While I am occasionally prone to some righteous admonition with a raised voice and, at times, extended rants in the face of injustices that should anger everyone, actual shouting is kept to a relative minimum (sort of) and humor is always right around the corner.

Bill Sewell

Bill Sewell

If William “Bill” Sewell believes in a guiding principle, it comes from world champion racecar driver Mario Andretti, who said, “If things seem really under control, you’re not going fast enough.” Sewell spends his life pushing to find that razor's edge between velocity and control. Raised in Dublin, Georgia, Sewell began his clandestine adventuring as a boy, with rifle in hand, hunting imaginary Nazis, the Japanese army, and even Yankees in the Peachtree state’s backwoods. A Vietnam and U.S. Air Force veteran, Sewell left military service to become a contractor for the U.S. government. In addition to working with the Departments of State and Defense, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration, Sewell also consulted on security matters with the governments of Kuwait, Australia, India, Oman, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, China, Canada, and even with the European Council of Mayors. But Sewell also pursued an alternative profession—with the U.S. intelligence community. “There’s a thrill to participating in covert enterprises. And of course there’s the patriotic aspect of doing some good for your country. Unfortunately, I’m not yet at liberty to talk about much of what we did. But we had a lot of fun. . . .” Sewell also experienced the direct effects of what can be a very dangerous business. “At the end of the first Gulf War I went over to Kuwait, working with their interior ministry. Aside from the terrible cost in lives, the war had turned Kuwait into a pile of rubble. The old bustling Suk (marketplace) ceased to exist. Our huge hotel? There were only six functional rooms left, because Iraqi soldiers tossed a grenade in each room as they walked out. The Iraqi army blew up or stole everything of value; they even pinched an entire roller coaster from an amusement park! But the Kuwaitis were determined to rebuild, and they did a spectacular job. I was very proud to work with them in the years after the war.” In addition to his work abroad, Sewell has provided security expertise for numerous domestic events and venues—including the Super Bowl, NFL and MLB stadiums, airports, infrastructure, and many corporate headquarters and locations. Putting his remarkable experience to good use, Sewell has now penned Nonofficial Asset: The Iran Affair, a clandestine thriller featuring his doppelganger, Peyton Stone. It is the first installment in the Nonofficial Asset series. William Sewell lives with his wife in Southern California. 1st off....I am not sure what the definition of "dispointed" I believe you mean, sir. "Disappointed".

I would think if you knew my history and was thinking I was gonna keep something like this private, you have no clue who ...I am.

What the hell does that mean? and i was not aware that "Problems" could form sentences?

You can always as well as anyone can, not listen...or watch. It's called the 1st amendment. I suggest you look into it.

What the hell does that mean?

      {oh and by the way on the devil comment, nicest thing i have been called all week.}

Not trying to ruin anyone just want people to be held accountable for their actions. It's called Journalism....

      Oh and by the way,dude...

Why did you send the email in the 1st place if you did not want drama. Furthermore, if you did not want to continue the drama, why did you write back.

      Good night now!
